Introduction

As a teenager, going through puberty was not an easy journey. Acne, much to my horror was the burden I was left to carry through that most awkward and terrible phase in ones life.
Beining teased by others created an obsession with my skin. Skin Medication became my answer to any flaw or imperfection that I found.
In my later 20's, still incredibly obsessed with the persuit of perfection of my skin, I met Candice who has taken me on a journey and created a flawless canvas for the world to see.

Step 1 - Cleansing and Numbing
Before the procedure, I spent many hours researching what to expect when doing micro needling - Pros, Cons, Downtime - however when walking into the salon and not being sure of what the procedure entailed, Candice's calm put my mind and heart at eases, I knew I was in good hands.
The 1st thing that is done before the procedure is that your face is cleansed and a numbing cream is put on to your face so that when the needling is being done you do not feel a thing.
The sensation is that of a numb foot that you have been sitting on for days and you lips feel as tho they have been somewhat inflated - the disappointment to see that they are as they were before the numbing cream is the worst part of this entire process.

Step 2 - Needling
With my face entirely cleansed and numb, Candice begins the needling process. Before she started I did speak with her about my frown lines being my biggest concern on my face - this is due to an automatic response of my facial expressions being linked to what I am thinking when people talk - I am working on this. With that said, Candice focused a lot of the needling on my forehead.
The sensation is an incredibly strange one as you can hear a vibration but you do not feel anything. This part of the procedure takes around 30 minute. All sort of potions and lotions are applied to the skin when needling, this forces the them to penetrate the skin and get right to the cause of the issue. The purpose of needling is to basically create a "wound" on the dermis/skin and force you body to go repair the wound. In turn this mean that the body is told to go fix wrinkles,  scarring and pigmentation - I was sold on the procedure when I heard that.

Step 3 - 6 Hours of Chill
After the procedure you will be red and blotchy - my suggestion is go home, make a cuppa tea and binge watch your favourite series. Do not worry this is not permanent.
The after care post procedure is extremely important, basically your skin is now wounded and needs 6 hours of love and attention before the dermis closes. Candice will advise you to put serum on every 2 hours for 6 hours, thereafter once in the morning and once in the evening for 2 days. Basically you are forcing the skin, while more porous than normal, to absorb all the goodness in the serum.
The numb face will subside after about 2 hours, there after you will feel like the sun has just caught your face - this is really not unpleasant, but if you do find it slightly uncomfortable, take your pain tablet or anti inflammatory of choice and like magic this will disappear. (I have never had to do this)

Step 4 - The Morning After
After a good nights sleep (on a clean pillow case) you will wake up with one of the two scenarios - I have had both. Scenario 1 you wake up as if you didn't have a procedure the day before and your skin is beautiful and glowing. Alternatively scenario 2 you wake up and your skin is beautiful and glowing but slightly bruised - this goes away by day two - the bruising is normal - do not panic. Wash your face put on your serum
and continue as your would normally - make-up etc. I like to spend the day after with no make up and continuously putting on serum , but again refer to the introduction, I am obsessed with my skin.

Step 5 - The days to come
Over the next few days you will notice that your skin may be flaky - almost like peeling from sunburn - get excited as this means your beautiful new skin is making an appearance. The biggest draw to micro needling for myself is that it is a procedure where as time goes on the improvements to your skin increases. After about 2 weeks to a month you will look at your skin and realise what the big benefits of micro needling are. Once you see this you will become addicted to always having that incredible flawless canvas.

Conclusion
Of all the treatments that I have done, micro needling has offered the most benefits. The reason for this is that it reverses any damages to your skin that you may have done in earlier years as well as prevents the damage to come, because of this this has become my treatment of choice.

You skin is your biggest organ on your body and the first thing people see when they meet you - invest in it and in turn it will reward you.
